My name is Lauren and I’m 24 years old.
For most of my life I lived in the small town of Sutton, Massachusetts.
I’ve always appreciated my life there, but I knew early on that I wanted to see more! Despite not coming from a family of travelers, I found a way to leave home at 16 and spend a summer in Sicily, Italy. After, I was always working and saving for my next trip. In college I studied abroad for one year, between Argentina and Granada, Spain. But it still wasn’t enough…
After graduating from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with degrees in Hospitality and Tourism Management and Spanish, I decided to return to Spain with a program to teach English to high school students. I can’t say it was an enlightening experience, but I survived. Seville is a beautiful city where I can say I really lived the good life: tapas, cervezas, siestas, playa… what more could I really ask for?
But I suppose the most exciting thing that happened to me in Spain was meeting Alejandro, my boyfriend!
Now, two years after moving to Spain my life has been turned upside down again. I just got married, I’m unemployed, and hoping to move to Madrid and figure out my life.
Here I write, share pictures, stories, and advice, and also my always growing love for food and eating.
A mix of food blog, travel diary, expat guide, and more, I hope you enjoy my posts! Maybe I’ll encourage someone to take a trip, try a recipe, or eat something new.
Wow, what a beautiful life you have!!! I can’t wait to follow your adventures.
Thanks again Andi; you’re an inspiration to all bloggers and travelers out there! I’ll continue following your adventures as well 🙂
Aaah – sounds like a (younger) version of my life! Hope the move to Madrid (beautiful city) and job search goes well for you and Alejandro.
Thank you! I look forward to continuing to read your blog.
Yes Lauren–your life has been an adventure for all of us and I look forward to seeing what’s around the corner!!
Love, Mom
Hi Lauren, I found your blog via Jenna (I stayed with her for Thanksgiving in Sevilla my first year in Spain 09′!) and know Cat through the blogging community as well. I’m an expat here too. Looking forward to reading your adventures and recipes!
Hi Christine! You have a great blog yourself; I’ll definitely be following!
Hi Lauren, thanks for leaving a comment on my blog so I was able to find you. Can’t wait to hear about your life in Spain 🙂
Congratulations. I have been living in Spain for 25 years now and your insight and advice is excellent. Josh
Hi Lauren! I was very excited to find your blog! We have so much in common. I’ll be following along to see how things are going for you. I’ve been married to my Spaniard for 5 years, we have two kids, and life here is still a beautiful, sometimes frustrating adventure. Good luck.
Rea
Thanks Rea! Your family is beautiful!
Love you blog! Can’t wait to see more adventures from you!
Thank you! Same here– I’m glad we discovered each other!
Hi, I really like your blog and your story, I hope all is going well. I have just moved to this part of the world so I’m looking forward to an adventure myself 🙂
Hey, I was sitting on that wall at the Mirador San Nocolas about two hours ago over looking the Alhambra! I live not far from Granada and am starting a foodie site http://www.cooking-in-spain.com and in research came across your site. I love your croquettas recipe.
